The 2025 Golf R: More Power, Fresh Looks

Golf R fans rejoice! The 2025 Volkswagen Golf R is set to receive a performance bump, bringing more excitement to this beloved hot hatch. The updated Golf R will now deliver 328 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque through a seven-speed automatic transmission, channeled into the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

Unfortunately, for manual transmission enthusiasts, the six-speed manual option will not return in 2025. All that extra power will come from the Golf R’s EA888 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine.

Design and Features

The 2025 Golf R isn't just about performance; it also boasts revised exterior styling. The updates include a restyled front end, a new bumper cover, and new LED headlight assemblies. An illuminated VW logo and horizontal light strip in the grille will be standard equipment.

At the rear, the Golf R features new LED taillights and introduces a new Black Edition. This edition includes darkened badges, black wheels, calipers, and exhaust tips, adding a sleek, aggressive look to the vehicle.

Interior Upgrades

Inside, the 2025 VW Golf R will be equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen media system, flanked by a 10.2-inch digital cockpit driver’s display. The touchscreen is divided into three sections, with the center section sandwiched between top and bottom touch bars. Below the screen, you'll find a touch-slider-based climate control system similar to the current model.

Pricing

US market pricing for the 2025 Volkswagen Golf R will be announced later this year. However, it's expected that the new model won't be cheaper than the current starting price of $46,890. So, fans should be prepared for a similar or slightly higher price point.
